Improved speech understanding in noise and better sound quality with the Baha Divino(TM)

In a study comparing the new Baha Divino(TM) and the Baha(R) Compact in seven adult, unilatterally fitted Baha(R) users, statistically significant advantages of the Divino regarding speech understanding in noise and overall sound quality were found. This article summarises selected results from a larger study performed at the University-ENT clinic of Berne, Switzerland.

Computer aided surgery around the head

The Head & Neck surgery Department of the Inselspital in Bern in collaboration with the M.E.Müller Institute for Surgical Technologies and Biomechanics plays for more than eight years a leading role in the development and clinical application of computer aided surgery (CAS) technologies. The aim of the Head and Neck group is twofold: "Clinical applied Research" and "Technological focus"

Implantable Hearing Systems

The ENT clinic investigates since several years on active implantable hearing systems. When compared to conventional hearing aids, implantable aids hold the promise of substantial improvements regarding sound quality, speech recognition, sound distortion, reduced feed-back, better cosmetic appearance and less discomfort due to absence of ear canal occlusion. An overview of implantable hearing system projects at our clinic is presented in the PhD thesis “Implantable hearing systems: Development and evaluation of two concepts".

Forschungsgruppe Artificial Hearing Research

Das "ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research"  der Universität Bern wurde 2008 gegründet mit dem Ziel technologische Forschung aus unterschiedlichen medizinischen Disziplinen in der Klinik umzusetzen. Die Gruppe "Artificial Hearing Research" des ARTORG Center arbeitet in engster Kollaboration mit unserer Klinik und fokussiert auf Forschung implantierbarer Systeme im Bereich des Ohres.
